Flesh can be your master. You can become so caught up in making a name for yourself in this life, showing your abilities and talents, or promoting your own image, that you forget the first rule in following Christ's example of living. HE NEVER MADE A NAME FOR HIMSELF OR REPUTATION!(Phil. 2:7) Jesus never made his own way and he never used his power, name, or authority to promote himself! He did not hire a promotions director to "get him out there" and he never called around asking for places to "show God's power off!" As a matter of fact, when he was lifted up on the mountain, and asked to show his power, he wouldn't do it! He would not allow himself to be lifted up in the flesh because then he would have given Satan an occasion to make him fall! Here is the problem.Some desire what they want in life and many times desire to be affirmed so badly that they totally forget that God says humble or "forget" yourself and he will exalt or "remember" you! But our goal should always be to deny ourselves, deny worldly lusts and self promotion, deny opportunity to be exalted and lifted up in this life, and rather seek to allow God to be the center of attention! Flesh can be a monster! It will crave the lust of the flesh and make it your center if you attempt to use it as a means to get attention and affirmation. That's why those that are usually lifted up as celebrities, superstars, and famous people, are plagued with sexual perversion, immorality, and self centered-ness! They are constantly divorcing, having sexual or drug addictions, and ultimately leading many astray by allowing their flesh (image, talent, name, etc.) to master themselves. 

It's a sad day when people began to look past the wrong in certain things because it's an opportunity to promote themselves. But for the sake of self promotion, many have began to do things are totally against scripture. God becomes the stamp of approval or validator for the mess they desire to do and just because they feel it may some way promote God, they will do it. Now, what do we have? We have mega conferences that promote sinful people, but may save some. We have Christian television that will hightlight movie stars and secular performers that say they are saved, because these people will draw many to God right? We have an audio bible, that is narrated by celebrities that promote sin, immorality, and seek to be seen and known, but since they are famous, this bible will be heard by those that wouldn't normally read it right? We have churches that embrace Hip Hop and dub the Gospel Gangsta and Holy Hoodlum as a minister for the youth so they can draw those that will only follow the images of gangstas and whores, to get them saved right? We have pastors and leaders that crave fame and notoriety so badly that they will advertise their ministries on myspace while accepting their zodiac sign?

They have friends on their pages that promote sexual perversion, immorality, and sinfulness, but it's an opportunity to show their favorite person, THEMSELVES! A teen going online to see them can be a little as 1 click away from porn, and a life of sexual addiction, but for the sake of self promotion, they just better be careful right? What about the preachers that go on the Hip Hop and R&B radio stations to do a "Word" for the day or give a mini sermon about going to church? They are blessing folks right? Right in the middle of songs that encourage sin, promote sin, and display sin, share a brief "Word" and then it's back to the booty! But that is gonna help somebody right? Who is being promoted here people? Who is the master here? Just because you claim God, and say you are saved, does not mean that every time you are lifted up, God is lifted up!! It does not mean that every time your name is called, God's name is called! It doesn't mean that every thing you do will promote God!! As a matter of fact, when I first started The Armor Of God Ministries, God told me never to promote myself or to hire people to promote me or his message. God said it is impossible to promote him and me at the same time! He said humble yourself and I will show myself in you! You cannot serve 2 masters people and if you are a servant of your own desires, then your flesh is your master!
